FISSION ACCORDING TO BERRY COLOR IN INBRED RED CURRANT PROGENY

Abstract

At the All-Russian Research Institute of Fruit Crop Breeding a group of red currant varieties have been studied for genetic determination of berry color. Varieties Jonkheer van Tets, Maarses Prominent and Shedraya homogenous by dominant gene Rc that controls red color of berries have been picked out. The breeding of these varieties with other varieties in the progeny will give seedlings with red berries. The most part of the studied varieties displayed heterozygosis by this gene. The crossings of such varieties between each other and with white colored varieties will allow obtaining seedlings with red and white fruit. White colored currant varieties are mainly a homozygote by recessive allele rc .
