DIVERSITY OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE FAMILY MICROSCULPTURE POLLEN OF THE FAMILY ROSACEAE JUSS

Abstract

A comparative study of the microsculpture of the exine of some species of the 2 families of the Rosaceae family - Malus (Malus domestica Borkh., Malus prunifolia, Malus paradisiaca) and Prunus (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch, Prunus spinosa, Prunus domestica). The study used the pollen material of plants from the demonstration garden of the Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra. It is established that the shape of the pollen grains is oblong - ellipsoidal or rounded; three-rooted. Malus pollen grains are more elongated than Prunus pollen grains. Malus species are characterized by one and two-component type of exine sculpture, for Prunus species - two and three-component. It is noted that the diversity of the sculpted surface of pollen grains in combination with their shape and size makes it possible to characterize varieties according to a complex of more subtle morphological features of the exina’s surface. These signs can be used later in the identifi cation of pollen.
